Cayden's Story

CaydenWhen a gas explosion destroyed Cayden’s Asheville home in 2016, he and his parents were rushed to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital and all three were placed on life support with severe burns.  Over a year later his parents are still undergoing treatments while Cayden, having been discharged, returns to Winston-Salem regularly for check-ups.

Although his visits are marked by procedures and surgeries (32 and counting), our Ronald McDonald House provides Cayden with childhood experiences that make him feel like any other 11-year-old.  He is our resident PlayStation 4 master, best friend of the therapy dogs, and massage therapy fan!  Cayden has experienced countless artistic adventures through our  Victory Junction and Arts For Life partnerships; he has also enjoyed RMH Day at the NC State Fair and a family vacation to Florida.

We could not provide the comforts of home and distractions like these without your support and care.  You allow us to keep families like Cayden’s close in the midst of tragedy, and you provide opportunities for kids to just be kids.  Thank you!
